چکیده
Morphine is an opiate alkaloid characterized by various clinical effects, among which the most prominent are its analgesic and psychoactive effects. It also has a depressive effect on respiratory cardiovascular system. Because of effect, morphine very addictive often used as recreational narcotic. As medication, it found use agent in chronic pain treatment, hemorrhagic shock, acute heart failure with pulmonary edema. Albeit, controversial, based many observational studies showing negative outcomes patients treated during incidents. In this report, authors present case cardiogenic shock (CS) transient left ventricular ejection fraction reduction, occurring patient attempting suicide using high dose intravenous sulphate administration. Other CS causes were ruled out. To best authors' knowledge, second morphine-related reported literature. Int J Occup Med Environ Health. 2021;34(1):133-8.

Morphine priming rescues high-dose morphine-induced biological perturbations.
In in vitro studies, macrophage morphine priming (MP; preincubation with low-dose morphine) attenuated the effects of high-dose morphine (HDM) on macrophage capabilities of killing and containment of phagocytosed bacteria. In in vivo studies, mice received either normal saline (control), HDM, or MP twice daily for 10 consecutive days. All HDM-treated mice showed a significant peritoneal bacteri...

Background: The effects of high dose steroids for the treatment of methanol optic neuropathy was evaluated in this study. Methods: In an interventional case series, 9 patients with a history of sudden visual loss after an ingestion of homemade alcoholic beverages were included in the study. The patients received 250 mg intravenous methyl prednisolone every 6 hours for 4 days continued with oral...

A 49-year-old patient with metastatic carcinoma of the bladder and no prior history of heart disease presented with diffuse ST elevation, elevated troponins, and biventricular dysfunction requiring intensive care unit admission and inotropic support after receiving her first course of infusional 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Over the course of several days, the patient's cardiac function and clinical ...
متن کاملCardiogenic shock caused by disulfiram.
Drug intoxication with disulfiram is a rare condition that may lead to severe and potentially fatal cardiovascular manifestations such as cardiogenic shock. We report the case of a female patient with refractory shock after deliberate self-poisoning with disulfiram. Clinical, biochemical and echocardiographic assessment, as well as invasive monitoring confirmed cardiogenic shock associated with...
متن کاملCardiogenic shock.
The syndrome of cardiogenic shock (CS) comprises a constellation of symptoms and signs that define a subset of patients with inadequate tissue perfusion secondary to myocardial dysfunction. Careful attention to and rapid identification of patients at risk for the development of CS and those with impending CS by both hospitalists and subspecialists will help to implement the time-sensitive thera...
